Key Investment Criteria

Antariksh Venture Capital Fund is looking to invest exclusively in Indian companies operating in the Space sector with Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 4 and above. Majority of the investments are expected to be in unlisted, private companies.

Indicative investment criteria are -

  • Alignment with Fund Objectives: Companies must demonstrate a clear synergy with the Fund’s mission to foster innovation and scalability within India’s space sector. Their business model and solutions should address critical gaps in the ecosystem, such as advancements in satellite technology, launch systems, space-enabled applications, etc. Companies should contribute to strengthening of India’s global presence in the space economy and generally align with national initiatives like the Indian Space Policy 2023.
  • Technological Innovation and Market Potential: Technological innovation is a cornerstone of the evaluation process. The Fund will invest in technologies that have a TRL level of 4 and above, while ensuring some differentiating factor between the prospective portfolio company and its competitors. Technologies with scalable applications across multiple sectors such as telecommunications, defense, agriculture, etc. will also be considered for their broader impact and revenue potential.
  • Founding Team Capabilities, Vision and Experience: The founding team’s expertise, vision and ability to execute are critical for a company’s success. Teams with deep domain knowledge, prior experience in aerospace or related fields and a clear strategic vision for the company’s growth are preferred. The ability to navigate complex technical challenges and the drive to position their companies as leaders in the space industry will also be considered.
  • Scalability and Commercialization Potential of Technologies: Companies must demonstrate a clear pathway to scale their technologies and commercialize them effectively. This includes robust business models, the ability to address large addressable markets and plans for future expansion. Scalability may involve expanding their applications to international markets or adapting their technology to serve multiple industries. A clear strategy for commercialization is essential to ensure long-term viability and profitability.
  • Financial Health, Growth Prospects and Exit Potential of Companies: Companies must exhibit sound financial health, promising growth trajectories and clear exit potential. While early-stage companies might not yet be profitable, financial stability, prudent resource management and a clear path to sustainable growth are essential. Companies with strong revenue projections, demonstrable cost efficiencies, as well as a structured roadmap for achieving key milestones and exit within a reasonable time period will be better positioned to secure funding.

It shall endeavor to provide support to investee companies to enable them to achieve sustainable growth and achieve / maintain their competitive edge.
